Youth - Take Action

Young people can contribute to improving the human rights situation in their country at every stage of the UPR by:

Youth3
  • Reporting on and raising awareness about the human rights situation in their community and making recommendations;
  • Attending UPR Info’s Pre-sessions;
  • Monitoring positive (or negative) human rights trends;
  • Organising/participating in events that can contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights.

After our sessions, UPR’s process started to occupy my mind as an unexplored field with much potential. I did some more research on my peers’ knowledge on the process itself and was quite saddened to see that almost none of them had any idea on what it was or how it operated. I genuinely want to bring more youth attention, and thus involvement in the UPR, so I wanted to reach out to UPR Info again.

Young people have the right to be heard and to influence all decisions which affect them!

Check out this useful handbook developed by UPR Info and Child Rights Connect, with the precious contribution of 142 children and young people from Africa, North and South America, Europe, Asia, Central America, and the Pacific.

This publication has been developed for children aged between 12 and 17 years old. It can also be used by anyone who wishes to participate in the UPR, including younger children. The Guide is available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
