The Role of Academia

academy

Academia plays an increasingly important role in the field of human rights. By the term “Academia,” we refer to the set of actors and initiatives that animate academic institutions: professors, lecturers, students, as well as postgraduate programmes and research work with a human rights focus. Academia contributes to the UPR by:

  • Producing independent human rights knowledge and analysis on human rights issues;
  • Offering high level human rights training.

Over the years, UPR Info has provided analysis, data and information about the UPR to numerous researchers conducting thorough peer-reviewed research based on scientific methodology.

You can find examples here.

UPR Info extensively engages with Universities to include and mainstream the UPR in human rights curricula. We work closely with the University of Geneva, the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, and Padua University, to mention a few.
